So buyer beware that hp will not recognize that this is a design flaw and you will have to pay hp to fix it or pay $$$ to get it repaired. We call HP and the tech told him he was sure to fix it but we needed to pay additional warranty from HP. Lights will flash and then they turn off but no screen activity. I was amazed of how many people who purchased this tablet pc and had this happen to them too. I bought my husband this tablet laptop a little over a year ago. My husband takes good care of his electronics so I was surprised when he tried to turn it on yesterday and it just did not turn on. We decided to do some research online instead.
You are better off spending $500 LESS on a non-name brand computer than ever purchasing an HP. Then the computer will not boot up. HP does not care if your computer fails and they will try everything to NOT supply you with replacement parts. HP won't fix the "NORMAL FAILURE" of the motherboard that WILL OCCUR around the one year mark. My recommendations are a Dell, Mac, Asus, Acer, Gateway, or eMachines. You will see lights and hear the fans spinning but the computer screen will remain blank.
HP calls this error of the wireless malfunction and the motherboard failure a "NORMAL FAILURE." I feel sorry for all the people who will disregard this because YOUR WIRELESS WILL FAIL AND THEN SO WILL YOUR MOTHERBOARD. This is the worst laptop ever. You will notice signs of the wireless network card disappearing and causing your wireless to not work. Besides you can never understand the half-English speaking jerks that work for HP.
ok, maybe i'll still by some ink every now and then, but that's it. :)) used to think high of HP, but now I'm never going to buy anything from them, not even an SD card. HP obviously thinks that if they don't acknowledge it, there is no problem. right after the warranty expired, the wi-fi went off. As ALL the 2009 reviews, this one is a 1 star just because I can't give it ZERO. customer service was useless, tried to scam me of another $400. and I swear i'll refill all my ink cartridges at walgreens.
I would reccomend looking for another model/brand that doesn't have so many issues. I have sent my pc to HP 4 times for repair. It gets HOT HOT HOT. The vent actually got hot enough on one occasion to debond the laminate coating on my desk.2. I purchased it, with high hopes, to use at school.
The screen is a touch screen (not a digitizer) which is convenient; however, it never held calibration which makes using the pen input very difficult.This is an expensive tablet. The vent area of the notebook gets hot enough to burn skin (a bad problem in a "laptop"). I was very dissapointed in the end. This was my second notebook from HP. 1.
It has had 3 motherboards put in along with two screens to correct the calibration problems (see below).
I don't know how HP continues selling this garbage. I put 1 start because the 0 start option is not available. I bought one (HP Pavilion Tx1410us) and less than 1 year the motherboard failed.
